Who is Mad-Eye Yokai?

About Me

My journey into content creation began when I was working in Japan as a translator and teacher.  When my laptop broke during the summer of 2016, I tried taking it to an MSI shop and ended up entering the Japanese headquarters for the company.  After some small talk I got invited to a gaming party to test out some of the latest VR equipment in production.  What I didn’t know was that at that moment, my career was going to take a wild turn.

At the party I networked with one of the marketing leads for MSI.  When I mentioned I was making YouTube videos for fun, they invited me to film an unboxing video on one of their laptops in Japanese.  Armed with a simple phone camera,I had so much fun making the unboxing video that I realized that I wanted to have a future in the content creation space.

So I decided to come home to America and take classes in graphic design, video editing, and game development in the hopes of breaking into the video game industry.  3 years later in 2020, that dream would come to fruition when I won an editing contest hosted by tinyBuild Games.  That opportunity turned into a full time job and I had the privilege to work with the company for two wonderful years.  As time went on though, I realized how much I missed being in the content creation space on my own terms and so I decided to launch my own freelancing business producing trailers, devlogs, and creative content for brands.

About Us

What do I do exactly?

I’m a content creator and creative producer.  Not only do I make videos on my channel, but I make content for brands to be used on their corporate channels to help with game releases.

Creative Producer For Companies and My Channel

Creating videos and collaborating with companies has a two-sided coin.   On one side, you have content that directly applies to a company.  That could be a trailer for an upcoming game shown on PlayStation and XBOX stores, a devlog showcasing the latest update for a specific game, or a creative piece that combines film genres to produce a memorable piece of content to get gamers excited for a release.

On the other side is the YouTube channel, my creative space that has been a journey over the last 8 years.  If you were to scroll through the thumbnails you could see how I started with the MSI video and Friday The 13th content, leading up to motion graphics commercials, and eventually Secret Neighbor which led me to joining the gaming industry.  On Mad-Eye Yokai I have posted a variety of content such as playthroughs, tip videos, and more.  Now, this new chapter is sharpened with a goal of helping gamers experience stories that respects their time, and helps gaming companies reach new audiences so they can keep making the amazing stories and experiences people love for years to come.
